Samuel Gafencu, DDS, AIAOMT better known as Dr. Sam, is a native of Michigan. He attended Wayne State University for his undergraduate degree, after which he attended and graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. Dr. Sam was drawn to dentistry upon realizing his passion for helping people and his love for science could be applied in this profession.

Upon graduation, Dr. Sam practiced in a few traditional dental offices, not practicing mercury-safe dentistry. With the failing health of one of his family members, he started to question the impact modern dental practices had on one's health. He began researching and learning about the effects of mercury and fluoride on the human body. The research he found led him to the IAOMT, and the rest is history. He began applying the true science to his practice and personal life. He has committed his efforts to developing his skills and techniques to use the safest methods available. 

Dr. Sam enjoys helping his patients and always strives to provide each patient with the best dental care possible. One of Dr. Sam’s goals is to listen to the needs of every patient and ensure they are comfortable with the treatment planned. He understands each patient has a unique story, and that each treatment plan needs to be catered to meet and solve their needs. Dr. Sam is certified in the Healthy Start, SMART certified, and an accredited member of the IAOMT.
